Playlist #19: My Love For Michael Joseph Jackson

| Just look at that precious smile. |
Today marks the 10th anniversary of your passing, Michael. You have done more for me than you will ever know. I remember the day I found out that you left us. My heart stopped. However, you were much too good for this world. You were an angel on Earth. The world was not ready for your love and compassion. You offered large thoughts to small minds. You was an empathetic, enigmatic and soulful being. There will always be a special place for you in my heart. I love you. ❤
There are many reasons why I love him so much. One of the reasons is his legendary music. His musical themes range from romantic to social consciousness to even radical. Romantic songs such as "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" that illustrates Michael's yearning for a loving monogamous relationship. Or socially conscious anthems such as "We Are The World" and "Earth Song" that emphasized the need to help those less fortunate than us - and the take care of the Earth as a whole. Another reason that I loved him is that he was a wise being - an old soul. He had the wisdom of an old ma, but the enthusiasm of a child. To be honest, I think all the teasing and rumors he had to endure throughout his life was due to jealous of his character and deeply misunderstanding him. Am I saying that was perfect? Hell no. Michael made his own share of mistakes just like the rest of us. However, Michael continued to give love to the world, even to the people that treated him like utter crap. I think we all can learn a thing or two from him.
On a much lighter note, Michael was my first (and ONLY) celebrity crush. No other singer has captivated me the way Michael has, and no one ever will. Every time I see Michael, hear his songs, watch his interviews or music videos; I always watch with a huge grin on my face. Haha, I guess you can say that I am hopelessly in love with him. And of course, I found him very attractive. I just wish that he could see what many could. He was beautiful inside and out. Like many of us, he had his own image issues, which resulted him in getting plastic surgery (WHICH IS A PERSONAL DECISION) - but I don't give a damn. It was his personal decision at the end of the day. He also suffered from lupus and vitiligo, which were both unknown medical conditions to the public, which made the press push speculations of skin bleaching. I will say that Michael was a PROUD Black man. He expressed it himself numerous times and he was well versed in both African and African-American history. Songs such as "Liberian Girl" and the "Remember The Time" music video were radical in my opinion, because he placed Black women on a pedestal. Oh, and by the way, MICHAEL LOVED BLACK WOMEN. He was in love with (and possibly dated) Diana Ross, dated Stephanie Mills, and one of two unknown ex-girlfriends of his were Black. Honestly, Michael loved women in general as he was a huge flirt!
As I said earlier, it has been 10 years since Michael left us. However, he is in a better place. I don't think we deserved his love and passion, and this evident in the way the media (and the general public) continue to try to tarnish his legacy... which won't happen, by the way. He was not a Jacko! He was NOT a child molester! He did not want to be white! He simply wanted to be himself. He was simply Michael Jackson. His eccentricities turned some people off, but it made me love him even more since I see myself as an eccentric being too. No matter what people say, Michael will always have my heart.
Check out the playlist below! It also includes his work with his brothers, The Jacksons!
