"Only hope can rise to the emotion we call despair." - Samurai Champloo ❤

Getting back into anime little by little, but it seems to me that some of the best anime only last for a single season. Samurai Champloo is one of those anime. Lasting only 26 episodes, the anime revolves around a waitress named Fuu who is on a quest to find the “samurai who smells of sunflowers.” Along the way, she meet two other companions, Jin and (FIND OTHER NAME AND PLACE HERE), and they are baffled by this samurai who smells of sunflowers and decide to tag along. During their quest, the trio run into many obstacles and even find themselves in situations that they really should not be in at all.
Samurai Champloo is also a hip-hop anime, so there is a lot of hip-hop music playing in the background, and even some of the characters break out into dance or beatboxing at any moment. The music is greatly composed by the late Nujabes (1972-2010), who raps the theme song, “Battlecry” with Shing02. In my opinion, this theme song is best theme song I’ve ever heard in any anime I’ve ever watched. Sorry, Sailor Moon… Nujabes has also composed music for another great, yet brief anime, Cowboy Bebop, which also lasted for 26 episodes, and it has a movie. See a pattern, here?  I was fortunate enough to find all 26 episodes of Samurai Champloo, and they ALL play with no issues. The playlist is below, so give it a look now!

Today’s “Song of the Day” is “Battlecry” by Nujabes featuring Shing02!
